Your Guide to Pet-Friendly Canandaigua
We know that a family getaway isn’t complete without the furry family members. Fortunately, Canandaigua — and the entire Finger Lakes region — is an excellent area to explore with dogs. Read on to see why!
Where to Stay in Canandaigua with Pets: The Lake House
The Lake House is a pet-friendly hotel in Canandaigua welcoming dogs up to 35 pounds and happy to spoil them during your stay with a comfy dog bed, water dish, and complimentary treats upon arrival. (We can’t help ourselves in the presence of a cute pup!)
Dog-friendly rooms are available on the first floor of the North Cottage to provide direct access out onto the lawn. Pups are welcome anywhere outside (except by the pool), meaning they can start the day sitting with you on your patio as you sip your morning coffee and end it by the fire pits as the kids (and grown-ups) toast marshmallows for s’mores.

What to Do with Dogs in Canandaigua
For an easy walk to stretch both your and Fido’s legs after traveling, head along the waterfront to pet-friendy Kershaw Park, about a half mile from the resort. Here you can stroll a bit further along the lake before turning back around. Want to explore further afield? A 15-minute drive south along the western side of the lake will bring you to Onanda Park. With seven lakeside acres offering swimming, picnic areas, and hiking trails, you can easily spend a morning or afternoon discovering Canandaigua’s great outdoors. The upland section of the park has a two-mile looped hiking path that’s popular with locals and their furry friends.
Where to Find Dog-Friendly Restaurants in Canandaigua
Canandaigua and the surrounding area are filled with local breweries and wineries — and if they have an outdoor patio, then they likely allow dogs! Some of our go-to spots to take the pup while enjoying a cold craft beer and bites include Frequentem Brewing Co. on Main Street (just one mile from The Lake House), Twisted Rail Brewing right by the water in Kershaw Park (0.7 miles from The Lake House), and Star Cider on the eastern side of the lake (three miles from The Lake House.) Dogs are also welcome outside at Sand Bar.
